
More details have emerged on the new relationship between Aliso Viejo’s Networks in Motion and the AAA travel association.
The auto agency is going to offer its members a new service for their cell phones that combines GPS and AAA’s diamond-star ratings on points of interest, hotels, restaurants and other sites where members can get discounts.

While the service is similar to the Networks in Motion’s street-by-street navigation service available to Verizon Wireless customers (and reviewed by me earlier), this isn’t limited to Verizon. Networks in Motion, which I’ll call NIM, plans to work with other cell-phone carriers and will announce those later this year. And only AAA members will get access to the AAA information. Another cool part: Emergency roadside assistance. Press a button on the phone and your location will be sent to AAA’s service team.

And once you’ve figured out where you want to go, you can call the place immediately and then get turn-by-turn voice navigation:
