eEye offers anti-virus software for FREE

April 2nd, 2007, 9:08 am · 1 Comment · posted by

eeyeBlink_sm.gifBy now, most consumers pay an annual fee to Norton, McAfee or other anti-virus company because we know the wrath of a bad virus or malicious piece of software. But for all you cheapskates out there, eEye Digital in Aliso Viejo has decided to offer its version of its professional Blink software to consumers for FREE for a year.

eEye, by the way, is the team of software-flaw hunters led by the reformed hacker Marc Maiffret, who calls himself Chief Hacking Officer. The company has made international headlines for finding flaws in Microsoft products and other software. They know what they’re talking about.

And now, they want to share the love with consumers. Its Blink Personal Internet Security with Anti-virus protects against spyware, adware, phishers, intrusions and other online mayhem. It’ll also detect what software upgrades your computer may need. And, of course, it has an anti-virus service, which even looks for attackers that have yet to be identified, also called ‘zero day’ attacks.

    Thanks for the blog post!

And great picture of my boss. :)

I am really excited about this. It is a great chance to protect people with a product that has our best research minds behind it. While the AV is free only for a year, the rest of Blink we plan to keep free.
