Santa Ana toy company TOMY Corp., which was founded in Japan in 1924, just added the i-SOBOT, a bipedal robot that moves in eight directions, dances, lies down and does karate kicks.
This is quite a leap for the company which has mostly soft or plastic toys geared toward babies and pre-schoolers. i-SOBOT is a 7-inch humanoid robot with 17 motors, 19 circuit chips, a built-in gyro sensor, 2 LEDs and voice recognition and speech ability of over 200 words and phrases. Should be available in stores in October 2007 for $350.
Sounds impressive so we can’t wait to see i-SOBOT in action (or figure out how it got named). We’re not the only ones impressed…
