iPods mania continues with local graphic designer Sal Loredo solving a problem with cute T’s. His company, PodWare, sells a small selection of women’s t-shirts with pockets to hold iPod nanos and shuffles.
It wasn’t just to cash in on the frenzy, he says. But he got tired of strapping his iPod to his waist or keeping it in a case or getting it tangled with a friend’s. Thus, PodWare launched in his Buena Park home. His wife, mother and another person help him out.
The goal is to turn PodWare into a …
company that integrates clothing and electronics — and not just the iPod. Interestingly, he didn’t just cut up a t-shirt and start selling it. He tried several prototypes, in search of the right fabric and style. The resulting combed-cotton fabric is finished with a silicon softener treatment and clear elastin shoulder tape to improve strength of the seams and to prevent stretching.

Sal’s now working on the men’s t-shirt line and new designs, like the future launch of the iPhone. In the meantime, check out his designs at podware.us.
