Western Digital finally at 750 GB

wd750gb.jpgThis one is pretty straightforward. Lake Forest’s Western Digital is now at the 750 GB mark — more than 13 months after rival Seagate announced its own 750GB drive.

And for those counting, this comes approximately five months after Hitachi Storage Technologies announced it has a 1 TB drive (and on its way from Fabrik). But that’s not out yet. So, I won’t hold it against WD.

Specs on the new WD Cavier 750 GB:

* Serial ATA
* 3 Gb/s transfer rate
* 16 MB cache
* IntelliSeek technology calculates optimum seek speed to eliminate certain movements to reduce power consumption by more than 60 percent compared to standard drives.
* Price: $249
