Beating the sun at the shadeless Apple store

iphonesonya100.jpgReporting from the front lines: Register reporter Sonya Smith is #10 #13 in line (a few people cut overnight) waiting to buy an iPhone at the Irvine Spectrum Apple store. She’s been there since Thursday afternoon and is offering periodic updates of what it’s like to wait for the iPhone, which goes on sale Friday at 6 p.m.

Everyone right now is trying their best to beat the sunlight. Some are using umbrellas, others are hiding behind plants or – me – I went to Urban Outfitters and bought a new top – a nice strapless one that’ll keep me much cooler.
