No need to stray too far from Poochie when you’re visiting a strange town — or even if you’re closer to home. Go2 in Irvine just launched a mobile pets site fit for cell phone users.
Go2Pets.com works on any web-enabled mobile phone and it’s free (!!) to look up important details, such as pet-friendly hotels, airline pet regulations and dog walkers.
Plus there are pet tips galore. Just type in your zip code and all the services will be localized.
The Irvine company teamed up with Internet developer Genex in Culver City to put together the new site.
Should we care that it’s sponsored by Nestle Purina PetCare? Go2 tells me that Purina provided all the information on pet tips, while Go2 offers the usual ‘yellow pages’-like directory service.
And this is crazy, but did you know there are even pet-friendly wineries? None were in Santa Ana, but I typed in the zip code for Napa, CA, and 16 wineries popped up.
I thought this was a fluke. Maybe Go2′s database of wineries just feeds into the pet site regardless if there are pet policies.
Then I clicked on the first one, the Darioush Winery. Dogs okay! As long as they are on a leash, well behaved and you clean up after them!
Take your own test drive of the site at wap.go2pets.com.
