This must be UWB week. Irvine’s Toshiba America if finally selling its Ultra WideBand dock, which is a wireless docking station for three of its Portege laptops. as demonstrated in this video from January.

Toshiba Wireless UWB Port Replicator uses Ultra WideBand, a burgeoning high-speed wireless networking technology that is like Bluetooth on steroids. It can transfer digital information — including uncompressed video — at speeds above 400 megabits per second. Toshiba says this is the first out in the world.
In the demo Toshiba showed me earlier this year, a compatible laptop can wireless “dock” with the port replicator so users can use a nearby computer monitor or stereo system wirelessly. You can also add a keyboard or external hard drive or optical drive. Just plug them into one of the dock’s four USB ports, audio port, video port or Ethernet port.
Unfortunately, Toshiba’s new dock only works with its new Portege laptops: Portégé R400-S4834, the Portégé R400-S4835 and the Portégé R400-S4933. These models are built with the technology. Price: $499.99.
A package kit is available. The Portégé R400-S4933 with the Toshiba Wireless Port Replicator standard, an external USB DVD Optical Disk Drive and secondary 6-cell Lithium Ion battery is $3,699.
