TOMY Corp.’s i-SOBOT may not rule the world at 6.5 inches but it just nabbed a spot in next year’s edition of the Guinness World Records for “the smallest humanoid robot in production,” the company announced today.

I haven’t checked out an i-SOBOT myself, but the Santa Ana toymaker, a unit of one of the oldest toy companies in Japan, says this bipedal robot has 17 custom servo-motors, 19 integrated circuit chips, a built-in gyro sensor, 2 LEDs, voice command recognition and can speak and perform hundreds of words, phrases and actions (walking, dancing, push-ups, soccer….).
i-SOBOT, which runs on three AAA rechargeable batteries (included), isn’t out yet but should be in stores by October for $350. It even has a MySpace page.
