BlizzCon, the second fan fest for Blizzard Entertainment fans, begins tomorrow but the Irvine company let me and a photographer get a sneak peek at the set up.

We met two of the founders — Michael Morhaime, its president, and Frank Pearce, executive vice president of development — who were practicing their speeches for the big day on the stage above. Blizzard has some big news to announce at 11 a.m. (Pacific) tomorrow. I’ll post as soon as I can.

People are already lining up! Even though they have one of the cherished 8,000 tickets that sold out in three days. I will post more photos — better photos taken by a Register photographer — shortly.

Otherwise, here are some photos of Blizzard staff setting up for BlizzCon 2007 (click image for larger view):

1.The Star Craft 2 play room 2.The gamer stage 3.Star Craft II computers 4.Setting up the store

1. The StarCraft 2 computer game area
2. The stage set aside for the professional game competitions
3. More shots of the StarCraft 2 area. The new game is playable.
4. Setting up the BlizzCon store.

Expect more exhibitors this year. UpperDeck was the only one that was setting up today. It seemed odd to see the First National Bank of Omaha there until Blizzard folks reminded me that the bank is the official provider of the World of Warcraft credit card.
