Toshiba’s SD card now supersized at 32 GB

August 21st, 2007, 7:13 pm · 3 Comments · posted by Tamara Chuang, a.k.a. The Gadgetress

I first spotted Toshiba’s 32 GB SD high-capacity memory card at the Consumer Electronics Show in January. Now, it’s official. The Irvine company just made the announcement in Japan. So, you heard it here first, in English…

The 32 GB card will be available in January 2008, along with an 8 GB microSD card. A 16GB SD high capacity card is out this October.

All meet Class 4 specification in the SD Speed Class so they’re supposed to be fast enough to record high-resolution, fast-motion video. Maximum write speed of the SD card 6 megabytes per second and minimum sustained data write of 4 MB/sec.

Now the important stuff: Price.

  • 32 GB is $700
  • 16 GB is $350
  • 8 GB is $175
