People I know with Sidekick cell phones really love their phone. Big QWERTY keyboard. A nice screen… So, good news for you all and anyone who wants to join in on the fun. T-Mobile is offering new models, the Sidekick LX and the Sidekick Slide.

The Sidekick LX ($299 with a 2-year contract) has a screen that uses Sharp Electronics’ high-definition Aquos LCD technology. Plus, it has a 1/3-megapixel camera with flash, mood lights and ships with a 128 MB memory card. Two colors: midnight blue and espresso brown. Available on Oct. 24.

The Sidekick Slide ($199 with two-year contract) is so named because it slides open, instead of flips open. It’s shorter and slimmer than the Sidekick LX and it’s the first designed by Motorola. Available in black with deep purple trim beginning Nov. 7.

Other factoids T-Mobile is sharing:

• Sidekick customers text more than they talk
• On average, a Sidekick customer sends or receives 3,000 instant messages and 600 text messages each month.
• 80 percent of web pages viewed on the Sidekick are to MySpace (hence, T-Mobile is rolling out a new MySpace application for Sidekick addicts in the next month).

In honor of its Sidekick fans, T-Mobile is launching Sidekick Nation today. The user-generated video contest is looking for original short films that show how the “Sidekick serves as their social lifeline.” Grand prize: $10,000 and a trip to Hollywood to see highlights of their video aired on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
