Who doesn’t want to party in a car while in a virtual world? And who doesn’t want to also create and drive around their own virtual cars in that virtual world?
Well, hopefully players in Laguna Beach-based There.com, a virtual world created by Makena Technologies earlier this year.

Scion, the “hip” section of Toyota, has already been offering “Club Scion” in the virtual world – a nightclub setting built into the interiors of Scion xD, xB and tC models where members socialize, party and … Scion hopes … learn about the car.
And today Makena Technoligies announced that There.com members can create graphic designs to adorn the outsides of “Club Scion” while also now being able to create, buy and sell their own versions of drivable, branded Scion cars in the virtual world. Users will create the car designs based on image templates before sending those designs in to be considered for the cars.
“Scion is finding success through the unique marketing channel that virtual worlds present,” said Adrian Si, Scion interactive marketing manager. “Taking our partnership with There.com a step further and allowing their members to customize our cars is another interesting way for these consumers to interact with our brand.”
There.com was created when MTV Networks hired Makena Technologies to build the virtual world as a hangout for fans of the network’s “Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County” TV show. But anyone 14 and over can hang out, create their own avatar (that’s mine on right) and type in commands like smile.
Emm … Comment about you saying Laguna-Based There.com??
Yeah … There.com was created BEFORE Laguna Beach and Makena Technologies created Laguna Beach For MTV!
Laguna Beach is Based on There.com ok??
