The Cupertino company that promised to open the iPhone to third-party developers by the end of February has not mentioned it again and instead updated its laptops.
The new MacBook and MacBook Pro models are the most recent updates for the portable computer line since last updated on June 5, 2007. The multi-touch controls that Apple unveiled with the iPhone are the newest addition to the laptops that kept the same design and added memory, faster processors and 802.11n for quicker wireless networking.
The MacBook models (at right):
All MacBooks come with: Apple’s operating system and iLife software, scrolling trackpad, built-in video camera, power adapter that detaches when the cord is tugged or tripped over, two USB 2.0 ports, one FireWire 400 port, Bluetooth 2.0 and an AirPort Extreme 802.11n wireless networking.
The MacBook Pro models: (at left)
All MacBook Pros come with the regular MacBook features, plus: an aluminum (non-colored) shell, a multi-touch trackpad, a SuperDrive that can play and burn CDs and DVDs, a built-in support for plugging into Apple’s 30-inch monitor, a FireWire 800 port and the power adapter is 85 watts (compared to the MacBook’s 60 watts).
