
In preparation for my new focus, I’ve been collecting bits of free-ness on the web. Here’s a round up of recent deals:
Free Photoshop! Well, a very simplified version of the software that can set professionals back a grand or more. Photoshop Express is a web-based version that offers tweaks/fixes to photos. Adobe is even offering users room to stash up to 2 GBs online. Another basic version, Photoshop Elements (which works just fine for me) is $100. My 15-second review of Express: Meh. I was hoping it would do more, like merge multiple photos to create wacky Photoshop images, but it doesn’t. Still, it holds its own against similar free services, such as Picnik. Launching nationwide later this month … Free text directions on your cell phone from Dial Directions. Just call 1-800-Free-411, tell the voice-recognition service the name of the business or resident and it will allegedly text you directions to that location. Right now, it only works on cell phones in these areas:
