that's convincing enough for me to switch. I usually run firefox behind video games and had no idea it was being such a resource hog!!!! Now that Google pulled their heads out of their butts and changed the user agreement I'm switching to Chrome!

Thanks all. I'll be monitoring the plug-ins, one of the best features of FF. Who knows? Maybe I'll switch back one day. -- Gadgetress

Gadgetress,

If that is Firefox 3.1 you're running I would do what Mark suggested and check on the plugins you are running. How many tabs did you have open at the time of that screenshot? just curious. I have 4 tabs open and a second firefox window with another couple of tabs and I'm only using 137k - before I upgraded to Firefox 3.1 I was using as much ram as you posted...so i'm guessing it's the plugins?

Firefox 3.1 is supposed to fix a lot of the memory problems with the current version. This won't change how the process-thread issue, but it'll be an improvement.

I'm currently running Firefox with 6 tabs, and it's only taking up 200K -- I'm still waiting for a little more secure version of Chrome.
