I met with Kevin Kunkel, vice president of Sprint’s western region (and based in Irvine) and he brought with him a bunch of cool phones that are coming out from Sprint. So, of course I had to take some photos and share with you all.
The Rant by Samsung will be available Oct. 17. This is more of the standard phone with a slide-out keyboard. It’s obviously targeting the text-messaging crowd with the full-QWERTY keyboard. Other features:
Sprint has the exclusive on this cell phone, which will be available Oct. 17. The HTC Touch Pro
This is another full-touchscreen phone similar to the iPhone, the Samsung Instinct, the upcoming Google phone and multiple others. Sprint already offers the HTC Touch but new with the “Pro” version is the slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

Kevin only had a version of the Touch without the keyboard (which isn’t the same as the original Touch). They’re pretty much the same thing. If you haven’t seen it, the Touch is impressive. It responded well to the touch, unlike some past touchscreen devices that needed to be pounded to recognize a command.
HTC is also the company behind the first Google phone, which goes on sale Oct. 22. The Sprint Touch Pro will also be available later this month.
Some key features: Windows Mobile 6.1, 2.8-inch display, 3.2 megapixel camera/camcorder with auto-focus, 1 GB microSD memory card (included) and a slide out five-row QWERTY keyboard.
And last but not least … The LG Lotus, which Kevin didn’t have on him but he did provide some photos and details. This square-shaped flip phone has a QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth and a 2MP camera. It’s a very different design, available in black and quilted purple. Images below are from Sprint. Click on all images for a larger photo.
