Cox wants to give back to O.C.’s women-owned businesses

Cox Communications, which services a good portion of OC’s southern and central cable TV customers, has $21,000 worth of goodies up for grabs for an enterprising women entrepreuneur.

The company’s “Digital Growth Contest” will award the lucky lady a year of fiber-based data and voice services from Cox Business (valued at up to $12,000), and a 30-second TV commercial to air on top cable channels like CNN and CNBC for 6 weeks (valued at $9,100).

The contest is co-sponsored by Ladies Who Launch and organized by the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing.

How to enter? Visit digitalgrowthcontest.com, and submit a 250-word (or less) essay about a women-owned business. Talk up opportunities, challenges and rewards of running a business on your own. Required: An anecdote to illustrate how you could benefit from Cox’s upgraded business services.

This contest is only open to female business owners in the Cox service area (see “Guide to TV services in OC” for a list of cities).

Entries accepted through Nov. 13. Four finalists will be selected but only one will win the loot. Winners will be announced in December.

I work my ass off all day in my business,
No one ever offed me any help! I guess Cox cable thinks
woman can’t do it alone they must have help. Next time help
everyone except men of north western European ancestry.
    Unbelievable!

  • Arous says:

Wow, you would have thought COX would have spread it around to the top five winners. I hope they prominently release all the best entrants for some free advertising for everyone.

  • Brady says:

Double Wow. I can’t wait for Cox to do a similar contest for the top male entrepreneurs of Orange County!

What’s that? Don’t hold my breath? Yeah, you’re probably right. Lets see if I remember this when I am tempted to run my next ad campaign on Cox.

  • audiogirl says:

Wow. I wonder how women would like it if men did a men’s only contest.
