For the handful of Orange County residents who can even order AT&T U-verse, good news: 30 more HD channels will launch on Nov. 3.
Most of the new channels are available for no additional charge. And it’s heavy on sports — lots of Fox Sports channels (10 total), and Comcast Sports (3). List is below the jump.
That brings AT&T U-verse’s number of HD channels to 75, which tops that of Time Warner Cable and Cox Communications locally.
While the HD service does cost an extra $10 per month, most of the new channels are free, like QVC and The Weather Channel. U-verse is adding another HD plan for $5/month, which will include Universal HD, MGM HD and the Smithsonian Channel HD.
In addition to the new HD channels, U-verse is adding a few standard-definition channels, including The Outdoor Channel, NASA TV and WAPA America and V-me. Plus, lots of ethnic programming is coming Nov. 10. See details below:

[...] 30 new HD channels for AT&T U-verse [...]
I doubt all those sports channels will be available in OC. Reason: the way sports TV rights are negotiated, only those sports channels that show a region’s home teams (FS West and Prime Ticket in our case) will be shown without any blackouts. If AT&T includes all those sports channels listed, they would have to black out all pro sports, much like DirecTV does. It’s not their fault - sports teams only bid rights for their home region only, with the league negotiating “out of market” rights, hence all the pay per view sports packages out there.
My take: AT&T is listing those channels that they have negotiated carriage for, not taking into account regional availability. That does not necessarily mean all the sports channels listed will be available here.
(BTW, Prime Ticket was on the list … what about FS West?)
I didnt know there were so many polish speaking people around here.
