Spotted on CNET: Dow Jones news service is reporting that Wal-Mart will sell the first phone with Google’s Android mobile operating system, for less than T-Mobile.
The T-Mobile G1, which went on sale last week, will cost $148.88 at Wal-Mart instead of the $179 that T-Mobile is charging. The massive retailer will start selling the phone on Wednesday.
Buyers will still have to sign up for a 2-year-contract with T-Mobile. The cheapest monthly plan for the G1 is $55, which is $29.99 for voice service and $25 for unlimited web and 400 text messages.

Please don’t shop at Wal Mart.
Wal-Mart is NOT discounting the G1 phone, I called three stores and all three said the price is $179.00 .
Steve, I feel you I went threw the same thing and I ordered mine on 10/7 and still waiting for it to be shipped. I can see if they were sold out everywhere but they’re not if it wasn’t for my pre-order i could have had my phone last week the store had plenty. Here I am a Tmobile customer for the last year and a half and I have to wait longer then new customers and still pay the same price. But I digress…..
OK. Thursday I ordered mine. TMobile friday confirmed my order. Saturday I called and they said it wont be shiped until November 14. Went to the local store and they said they had them but they wont cancel the web order and sell me one right there. Now, this? It sucks being a customer of tmobile. Im in t-hell!
