UPDATE to the UPDATE, 1/16/09: Not so, says Lana Oog, a spokesperson with Cox OC. The update below refers to Cox customers in Virginia. Cox customers in O.C. are out of luck on the free HBO offer.

UPDATE 1/16/09: Looks like Cox Cable changed its mind and will still won’t be offering HBO for free too.

Time Warner Cable is spreading Obama love with a special freebie for all digital cable customers.

On Sunday, January 18, Time Warner will make the HBO East, HBO West, HBO Latino and HBO HD channels FREE.

The promotion is to encourage customers to watch the opening celebration of the 56th Presidential Inaugural, which starts at 11 a.m. in Orange County. The channels will just be available to all digital customers when the show starts. The free HBO access will last between 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (for the West Coast feeds)

HBO has “invited” paid-TV providers to offer the show for free. Cox Communications, however, said the special is available only to customers who subscribe to HBO.

The HBO event, called “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial,” is exclusive to HBO.

Besides Obama, the special will include musical performances by Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Bono, Garth Brooks, Sheryl Crow, Renee Fleming, Josh Groban, Herbie Hancock, Heather Headley, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, John Mellencamp, Usher, Shakira, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor, will.i.am and Stevie Wonder, and presentations of historical passages by Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III, Queen Latifah and Denzel Washington.

So, if you plan to tune in, here are the channels:

  • HBO East, Channel 504
  • HBO HD East HD, Channel 481
  • HBO West, Channel 503
  • HBO HD West, Channels 427 & 502
  • HBO Latino, Channel 511 (starts at 2 p.m. because of a tape delay)

DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT BARACK OBAMA SAYS, BUT CAREFULLY WATCH WHAT HE DOES !!!

Barack Obama is the greatest liar in history (no wonder he is an excellent lawyer!) During his campaign, he told lots of hope in future for America if he was elected, but now he warns Americans of oncoming darker economy and not to put too much hope in his promises. He promises a big plan to reduce budget deficit while his inauguration ceremony this January will be the most costly in history (50 millions) as well as his presidential campaign (600 millions), which was much more than his opponent John McCain’s. He swears to clean up Washington DC, but he failed to first clean up his homestate Illinois, one of the most corrupted state with the scandal of Governor Rod Blagojevich, who greatly helped Obama to win his state senate seat in 1996, 1998, and 2002. And his favorite slogan is “Yes, we can”, yet he himself cannot quit smoking at all !!!

  • lagirlbutocresident says:

TIM NGUYEN.. you are so funny. You must not know your history. Obama just got elected and is not yet the offical pres.. if you would have been listening to his victory speech the night he won, you would of hrad him say “america this is going to be a long and hard battle.. he mentioned that it will get worse before it gets better.. this man is going to have to fix 8 years of bushes.. F&$k ups.. and all the problems bush left behind.. Theses probelms are from years of bad decisions from the bush familes… you should read up on your history before you slander him and what he stands for.. he has alot of hard work on his hands let the man get in office first before you start slandering his name. thats the problem with most americans we slander 1st then when we are wrong its oh!!! he did make a difference. there is alot more i could say however, i may be blocked… you have a blessed day.. and its not good to judge others!!!

Heard not hrad I too heard Obama make that comment and my response was, watch him already making excuses as to why he will not be able to honor all those campaign promises he threw about. The problems that are faced by this country have taken more than eight years of time to start. Bill Clintons NAFTA was a part of the problem sending our jobs overseas. Jobs that our former Presidents stood side by side and stated that this county no longer needed. Manufacturing! Perhaps when Jimmy Carter passed a law that required banks to loan people who were not qualified money. Greed is the primary reason this country is going through this crisis. Everyone went out and purchased on Credit their hearst desires. Homes they couldn’t afford! Cars they couldn’t afford! College educations they will pay for the rest of their lives. Clothes, Jewells ,purses….GREED
Back to the HBO free Obamahon WHY???!! I really resent this

  • COPYTOP says:

IT IS NICE THAT TIME WARNER, MADE THE SPEICAL AVAILABLE TO ALL. THERE ARE SOME WHO CAN NOT AFFORD OR HAVE HBO. GOOD JOB.
THE PRESIDENT ELECT NEED ALL OF OUR SUPPORT, IF WE AGREE OR DISAGREE, AND WE ALL NEED TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER.
YOU KNOW THIS IS A HISTORIC EVENT, AND ALL SHOULD WANT TO SHARE IN BE PROUD FOR THIS MOMENT IN TIME. THIS DOESNOT CURE THE COUNTIES PROBLEMS, BUT MAYBE IT COULD BE A START. THE PROMISES HE MADE DURING THE CAMPAIGN, YOU NEVER KNOW IF THEY ARE STILL POSSIBLE. FIRST THINGS FIRST.

  • hopeforchange says:

Opinions are like butts, we all have one. What I don’t understand is, why people verbally attack one another for what they believe? What happened to freedom of speech??? It is the same every election, the candidate promises this and promises that… Now how many presidents Made good on all the promises they made! The president is not the final say; they can only change what congress will vote to change! I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to prove what he or she says to be true. Some saying he is a liar and he has not even taken office yet… That is wrong!

  • Colin Rigney says:

$150 million dollars for the biggest self-congratulatory party ever!! Let’s all feel good, then the next day BHO talks about how we need to not spend so much and the economy……blah blah blah. Bush’s inauguration was around 45-50 million dollars and liberals were crying wolf. It’s only been a few weeks and I can’t remember any president’s face plastered all over papers, media, and even American flags. It’s being forced down our throats.
