We just turned our box in to TW, and are switching to FiOS. We have never been able to watch a VOD movie on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night because of pixilation/break-up. Video on Demand is the only reason we even have cable. Technicians have been out and changed everything but their underwear, to no avail. It is obviously a server/bandwidth problem, but in a YEAR of calling in problems and dealing with customer service, no one in engineering/management has bothered to step-up. I guess they don't need our business, so we're taking our multiple-set-top-box-using, internet-router-renting, home-phone-service selves over to the competition.

I'm amazed at what Time Warner gets away with. Several weeks ago I was watching a college football game on a network channel. With at least one more quarter of the game to be played, the channel suddenly switched to a half-hour paid commercial broadcast. Yes, the game was available on a higher channel, but by the time I found out what channel it was on, I missed several key plays. Keep it up, Time Warner. Don't give a hoot about your viewers.

Just watched Hellboy2 for a penny. Great entertainment. Ordered 4 more to watch for a penny during the next 24hours of rain. Get over it people! I guess my old big picture TV is good for something. I'm glad I don't have HD with its attendant problems. No break up or digital goofs on Sunday evening. Try not looking a gift horse in the mouth for a change. By the way...my picture in Costa Mesa has been great and when it has not been my service with Time Warner has been superior. Perhaps I'm just luck\y.

I have had Time Warner cable since the 80's. In fact I am bundled with my computer, and telephone as well. My wife wanted to see Mama Mia, so we cracked a bottle of wine, and I turned on Movies on Demand, selected Mama Mia as one of the 1 cent movies offered and we started to watch. After about 40 minutes the movie just froze. Of course I was never able to access it again. In the past few months I have been having increasingly more problems with them. I will likely make a move in a few weeks after I decide to which system/company I want to switch. So I'll be saying goodbye to Time Warner.

I use TWC for Internet. Their download speed went down to dial-up speed on Saturday. I called them and they claimed it was an area-wide outage. They did not tell me that it was their TV customers bringing the system to a crawl. This is the second time their tech support has betrayed my trust. They are very un-forthcoming about outages. They try to not even talk to their customers by putting a recorded message on the line saying there is trouble in the area and to be patient. They tried to tell me that it was the whole Los Angeles area. I expressed disbelief and demanded they connect me to a test board technician in the local office. They tested my line, confirmed the problem, and told me that it was the whole LA area. Unbelievable. Unfortunately, there are only a few players left in the broadband market. It is too bad there is virtually no competition. Write your congressperson and tell them that you support regulation. If we can't have competition, they must be regulated.

I wouldn't say the selection was horrible. I found enough movies that I was interested in to want to watch them assuming it was possible to get it to work. I was able to see Burn After Reading before the system fell apart. I looked at the selection this morning and it looked like the HD movies were still gone.

Now to Dave, normally I have the same attitude about not complaining about things that are free. In this case, though, this is Time Warner's attempt at a PR move to try to get more people buying On Demand movies and they completely dropped the ball. I have had problems with their system in the past and I haven't used it since. This weekend just pointed out they still aren't ready for primetime with the video on demand.

We also couldn't watch the 1-cent movie our family ordered--movie went to black once and stalled out /froze twice. Then all we saw was the "cannot access movie right now" screen. Arrgh! Was on hold with TWC customer service for over 30 min, just gave up. Just a tip, TWC--Don't promise what you can't deliver!

I was wondering what the impact the promotion would have on Time Warner's system. I saw a movie right after midnight last night with no issues -- but that was standard definition and not a high traffic hour, I'm sure. This will be an interesting test for the company. Please continue to post your experience here so I can keep track. Thanks!
