Can’t get enough football on TV? Sprint offers live games on phone

Sprint offers NFL MobileIn this era of high-definition TV where HD sports broadcasts look fabulous, it seems strange to me that anyone would want to watch a game on their mobile phone.

But in case that’s you — perhaps you’re stuck buying guacamole at the grocery store or watching your kids play in the park on a Sunday afternoon — Sprint will again air live broadcasts on its Sprint Now Network of NFL Mobile Live. Sprint is apparently the only mobile phone service offering full broadcasts of the games.

Broadcasts include:

  •
    • Live radio broadcasts of every regular-season NFL game from the home team and road team’s local stations.
    • Live telecast of NLF Network, available for viewing after the event.
    •  Live telecast of all eight games televised by NLF Network, beginning Nov. 12 with the Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.
    • Plus other features including text alerts, injury reports, track Fantasy Football teams and the ability to share video links with friends also on Sprint video phones.

This feature scored big with Sprint subscribers last year. It was one of the company’s most popular mobile applications, with more than 1 million downloads during the 2008 football season.

Sprint users can order NFL Mobile Live by texting NFL to 7777. The service is included with some of Sprint’s data plans, including the Sprint Everything data plans starting at $69.99. For other plans, NFL Mobile Live can be added by adding Sprint’s Data Pack service, which starts at $15 per month.

For non-Sprint users or Sprint users who don’t want to pay for full coverage, the NFL offers a highlight report free to any phone. NFL.com Wireless has news, scores and photos and the ability to manage NFL.com fantasy teams. Fans can sign up at www.nfl.com/wireless.
