Spotted on MultiChannel News: Verizon FiOS is raising the price for TV customers. Not all though. Just those who subscribed to the FiOS TV Premier package.
I double checked with Verizon and a spokesman confirmed that indeed, prices are going up $10 per month for Premier customers not in a contract. Those in a contract won’t see an increase. The new price is $57.99.
This is because the Premier plan no longer exists. It was phased out last year, replaced by FiOS Essentials and FiOS Extreme HD. The new plans are $47.99 and $57.99 respectively.
Customers can either pay the extra $10 a month or upgrade to the newer plans, which include a few more features like access to all new channels and the 5,000 new video-on-demand shows added this year. Most of the shows are free, said spokesman Jon Davies.
Premier customers don’t get access to all the HD channels.
Pretty much all the TV providers in Orange County have raise prices this year. Here are links to those stories from early 2009:
Recent stories about TV, mobile prices:

Cut my cable umbilical cord years ago. Best thing I ever did.
You pay $57.99, a handful of channels are worth your time and you still get commercials on almost all of them. Take the money and rent movies instead.
Why does the story start with “TV Provider” ?, just say Verizon FIOS is raising prices. I remember in junior high Mr. Knopfke used to tell us the newspapers were written at a 6th grade reading level, I think the OC Register is much lower than that, I’m surprised it’s not written in spanish.
Is Verizon trying to become the company voted as the worst in Orange County????
If you give the Verizon Customer Service Rep. $10, they will answer that question for you.
dirtbags
@#@$#%^$^%&*^*&(&*^&$%^#%$&**() and thats all i have to say
all i can say is that if people cant afford the luxury dont get it period why complain that the price is going up just cut it and eventually they will realize the drop in custumers
I remember when everbody flocked to cable TV because they DIDN’T have ANY commercials.
Cut the cord and put a Slingbox at your friends house and watch free cable TV at your home. Slingboxes are cable companies worst nightmares….! Google it and find out for yourselves…. or go to http://www.slingbox.com
I have had Verizon FIOS for three years now. Two year ago I switched back to Comcast for TV service due to frustration with many of the same issues already noted on the comments in this site, and the fact that the ACTIONtec routers kept failing.
I kept the internet service in Verizon FIOS with VoIP with a 3rd party provider after Verizon allowed me to connect a general commercial router to the network, and not use the ACTIONtec box.
After all of this I can say without any reservation that Verizon customer services is the most incompetent in the industry
Recently I was informed by Verizon that my internet connection will go up by 25% in December. I am looking for alternatives to Verizon. Any suggestions? I live in the Northern Virginia area of Washington, DC.
