I have had a TWC internet connection for as many years as I can remember. Our local TWC (rr.com and roadrunner.com) evolved out of Adelphia cable. There was quite a fiasco years back about "converting" one's email address and ending up in the roadrunner.com domain.

Ok, email works. But the adelphia.net domain is still active and is EQUIVALENT (numerically identical) to roadrunner.com. Consequently each one of us has two email addresses. To this day I still get spam addressed to xxx@adelphia.net (for example).

I want TWC to break the link between the two domain names so that xxx@adelphia.net would then be a nonexistent address. Any idea why after so many years they haven't fixed this? Of course I've called, but their representatives remain clueless about the issue and cite their irrevelant excuses.

Yeah here's my question for, probably the worst cable tv provider in existence, but my HD/DVR cancels my recordings ON ITS OWN which defeats the purpose of having a DVR. Gone through 3 boxes and they all do the same thing. I've had a tech out here once a week almost every week and not a single one of them knows what's going on. The response I get every time is "we'll look into it and get back with you" and I never get a call back. This has been going on for almost 2 months and I'm so unbelievably frustrated and I have no other options but TWC due to my location and lack of home ownership in order to install a satellite company. Is anyone else having similar problems or know what could be going on????

I picked up a new Tru2Way Motorola box (DCX-3400) and it still has the crappy iGuide software TWC uses for its Motorola boxes.
My question is: since I have a Tru2Way Moto box, will TWC install Navigator or some other new guide that will give me Start Over and Caller ID on TV.
Also, when are we going to get BBC America HD and G4 HD like NYC subscribers do now? Please correct me if I am wrong.
And finally, will we get DOCSIS 3.0 and some sort of uber-high-speed connection here in OC?

Nobody is broadcasting in 1080p.
I can ask. Not sure if I can get answers on most of your questions. The last one though -- you need a DVR with three TV tuners or a second DVR. Sounds like a good service Time Warner could offer for any customer willing to pay a little more for a DVR that does a lot more. Another FYI: If Time Warner rolls out multi-room DVRs like other TV providers, these tend to have many tuners so you can record 4 shows or more at the same time.

FYI: Time Warner has a bunch of stuff on demand (Channels 1000 to 1100). There's some local community stuff, local news, etc. But it's not very well organized and channels, especially the local ones, seem to come and go.

One answer: Time Warner's cable pipes have room for a limited number of TV channels and my assumption is that Time Warner is at its max (Cox OC has told me it is maxed out). A few solutions: Cut out all analog channels and roll out switched digital video technology. The latter would take existing channels and turn them into on-demand only. That opens up space in the pipe for more HD channels. ... Now FiOS has a huge fiber-optic pipe going to a customer's house. It too has limits but the company is nowhere near reaching that even while offering 130ish HD channels, 50 mbps Internet and all sorts of cool features. ... On your last point, <a href="http://gadgetress.freedomblogging.com/2009/08/28/is-time-warner-really-cheaper-than-verizon-fios/19821/" rel="nofollow"> Time Warner is cheaper</a>, albeit you get less for the money.

Analog TV is gone, but digital TV replaced it. While reception isn't great in many areas, often a roof-top antenna will take care of that. I have some other tips at <a href="http://gadgetress.freedomblogging.com/dtv2009" rel="nofollow">"Guide to the Digital TV transition."</a>

That sucks! I will try to get a better understanding of Time Warner's customer service. Likely, if different reps or technicians are helping customers, they may run into a unique problem and dismiss it. But if they stop and compare notes, they could find similar issues among customers.

Don't believe what you see on TV.. Seriously though, you don't pay extra for HD equipment or DVR. It's the same cost as a Standard-definition DVR or set top box. (Not so secret tip: If you rent a SD DVR, trade it in for an HD DVR because it has more storage space).
