My area cable provider is Cox. Can you give me your opinion of whether I should go with Tivo or Cox DVR, or wait to see if Cox offers a Tivo option later this year?

Gadgetress, thought you should know -- OC TiVo users received a letter from Cox informing us that on November 25 we will be losing about 60 standard def, digital channels that will be switching to SDV. These include many channels in the 100 range, most in the 300 range (including Encore, BBCA, Logo, Oxygen, SoapNet, LMN, music oriented channels, and all the extra HBO's, Showtime, Starz and Cinemax channels in the 200 range. (If you email me a fax number I can fax you a copy of the letter.)

The are ever so generously offering us a free tuner (no DVR) for six months. Which does absolutely no good to those of us who watch everything on a DVR.

The tuning adapter? Still "expected before the end of the year."

All I know is they better fix their crappy 'compressed' digital signal, because the ALL the digital drop-outs with COX, it's getting to the point where AT&T is starting to look REALLY good!
