Just learned that AT&T added five new cell sites throughout Orange County. All 3G, of course. That should mean better Internet and voice reception with all those iPhones out there (does it? Share your experience in comments).
The upgrade is part of AT&T’s goal to add 200 cell sites and upgrade 320 others to 3G this year just in California.
The new locations are near these intersections:
- Aliso Viejo: Near the intersection of Aliso Creek Road and Pacific Park Drive
- San Juan Capistrano: Near the intersection of Stonehill Drive and Camino Capistrano
- Santa Ana: Near the intersection of S. Main Street and E. Edinger Ave.
- Buena Park: Near the intersection of Western Ave. and La Palma Ave.
- Garden Grove: Near the intersection of Brookhurst St. and W. Chapman Ave.

the reception still sucks ! my calls always drop when im in my bedroom how about putting some in HB!
No one in HB will allow a cell tower to be built. Your cities residences are a bunch of NIMBYS. The city approved two but since then residences have protested them out.
I work in telecom. You can’t get a darn tower approved here. Everyone thinks the towers cause cancer but its actually the phones & the bluetooth devices that are harmful.
It is all a BIG lie.
I am in Aliso Viejo and the service has been terrible for pat 4 years.
Still NO improvement. It is actually a little worse off.
These guys are almost like thugs. They are stealing everyone money and giving terrible service in return.
Gadgetress, I’ve given up on getting good ATT reception at my house in L.F. I am wondering when the MicroCells will be available in our area… any way you can find that out?
They could use a few in the 92808 as well. Just sayin is all…….
im in east orange. phone does not work in my neiborhood.
So now i just leave my phone in my car.
Been waiting for 10 yrs to get reception here!
I’m not happy either when I get poor reception, but one difference between myself and others is I used to work in the industry as well and realize the insane intricacies that the carriers have to put up with to erect a new cell site. It’s the stereotypical not in my backyard, but I want to eat my cake attitude that Americans (natural born or not) tend to have. If you want perfect coverage, I’m sorry but you have to put away your organic is healthier delusion away (I grew up in the valley, where organic fields lie next to conventional fields, there’s water run off, so much for your “legit” organic food), and realize you will need a tower within 1.5-2 miles of your home; deal with it. If it’s not the cancer nut jobs getting in the way of the permit/approval process, it’s the old farts that don’t want an “eyesore” sitting above their hypocritical “eyesore” purchase of an RV.
I pay for service, I expect service. Don’t make AT&Ts problems my problem when other companies can offer a better connection. I have ATT and I am STUNNED at how bad the network has become. The 3G map of Verizon vs ATT shows that ATT is ripping off its customers. My phone is WORTHLESS inside my house, and ATT wants to now charge for that new component to hook up to the internet to give me a better signal inside the house, and Verizon, with their much bigger network, gives that component for use against your minutes, not with an extra MONTHLY charge. I am expected to pay extra to make the service that I already pay for work better??
You could not of said it any better. It’s amazing when all your minutes are wasted to drop calls and then their solution is to increase your minutes.
Why haven’t they added a cell site on Niguel Rd? From Marina Hills south to Camino Del Avion you’re lucky if there is a rare chance of getting a connection.
Interesting. I have AT&T and never have dropped calls.
AT & T Service SUCKS in Newport Beach 92661
If my wife did not like the iPhone, I would not spend $200 a month for bad service.
A lot of people complain, MORE people don’t because they dont have dropped calls. I don’t even remember having a dropped call.
I worked in telecom for years. The original PacBell/Cingular system, which was one of the best, was transferred to T-Mobil. The ATT system, which was never really focused on OC became the Cingular/ATT system. Bottom line….if you want good coverage, go with Verizon.
ATT is hands down one of the best. Its also way better than tmobile. Tmobile has bad reception all over OC plus they don’t even have 3g. If you want good service get ATT or Verizon.
The iphone with 3g is the way to go.
at&t continues to have poor service. they don’t know if they are cingular or att. no identity.
Irvine sucks also, Wait till Verizon gets the iPhone. That will be a day of mass migration!
We are fine here in Lake Forest near Jeronimo and Lake Forest Blvd.
I thought they added a cell site close to my neighboorhood. I live less than a mile from La Palma/Western in Buena Park and seems like there wasn’t any impovement. I still have drop calls and very poor signal. ATT sucks.
Surprisingly everyone says Verizon reception is better, but i just recently switched from being with Verizon for over 10 years.. Mainly because in Anaheim Hills there is very poor reception with Verizon.. Now I switched with ATT, the reception it’s good but it could be much better with ATT.. I have no choice but to stay with ATT since i still have “some” reception, better than nothing.
Please bring better reception in Anaheim Hills CA 92808
