Bluetooth file transfer is not built into android afaik. I just got in the beta for this one bluetooth file transfer app called Bluetooth File Transfer, can’t seem to get it working myself, but maybe you can do better.

One thing the iPhone has that the Droid doesn’t is the ability to use the phone overseas. IMO a big mistake by Verizon.

Also, I would love to hear more about the gps on both the G1 and on this phone, that is the main feature that is drawing me to look at a new phone right now. I have a t-mobile dash that i got “free” which is out of contract, which may go to being a bad pda soon if I can get what I want with a combined google maps / gps phone.

Also how is verizon about their own turn / turn direction service vs. google maps. hopefully the function is just dependent on the broadband link to google maps and the built in gps, and verizon can’t block the feature to make you buy their feature. I am refering to being able to call a number and ask for directions turn by turn via voice over the phone. I assume that they get gps and in turn the system sends back the turn directions.

I noticed in your video you could not play a video I assume at the register web site. I wonder how they will handle the constant churn of the macromedia flash player required to keep up with playing videos like youtube and as I found on your web site.

I saw that the video embedded above is hosted by youtube, but the video on the register video page was hosted by something called “brightcove”. is that for copyright purposes, or why do you not host all of your content on youtube? fun how all the rights issues mess up doing something simple like putting out content.

The only thing I hate about Verizon Wireless is that they are the only wireless company that blocks Bluetooth access.

Nice! I LOVE my G1 but this one looks nice too. I love Android…I’ll never get an iPhone. Open source is so much better. I’ve yet to root mine but I’d like to. Does the motorola allow you to store apps on your memory card directly? That is my complaint wth the g1…it doesn’t unless you do a workaround.

I’d really like to see some drop test. The sharp corners on this thing with a thin sliding LCD screen, scream: ‘GET INSURANCE!’

I bet it will crack with a 1ft drop on a corner.

The keyboard looks and feels the same as the G1 — it has near-flat keys that light up when touched. They compress, but just barely so you don’t have to pound on the keys. Of course you have to get used to it and most people who are heavy texters will probably pick it up in no time. Keyboards are great for those who cannot stand the virtual keyboard. I did notice that for the first time, I didn’t bother opening the keyboard and just used Droid’s virtual keyboard to type in something short. Worked fine — but I have smaller thumbs then most guys. I do feel a physical keyboard is easier to get used to than a virtual one.

I'm not an iPhone user so I can't offer a complete differentiation, but off the top of my head some things Droid doesn't have: No access to iTunes, fewer apps, and none of that massive iPod cult following to precede its launch. And you sell your soul to Google instead of Apple. I'm sure there are some other reasons -- any iPhone users out there? MobileCrunch also did a comparison HERE, and I'm sure others will follow. Many say that you can compare Droid and iPhone but it is a personal choice. I feel the same. If you really want an iPhone, you probably won't be happy with the Droid until you get an iPhone.
