As a friendly reminder, in Brea the only areas that will ever see Fios (unless Verizon acquires AT&T, or Verizon files to offer CLEC service outside of their territory based on the CPUC service maps) is the far northwestern corner of the city, that is currently served by Verizon with wireline service.

For mapping purposes, here is the Verizon territory in Brea:

Puente St. on the east

Central Ave on the south

Then everything north and west of Puente and Central to the La Habra city limit on the west, and the Los Angeles county line to the north.

The Verizon pr hack may be able to update you if that area of Brea has Fios throughout, or just certain streets.

Last time I checked, not all homes had Fios available to them in that small section of Verizon’s Brea service territory.

Here’s a “fun fact”

Did you know that the small section of Brea served by Verizon for ILEC/Wireline service does not have the 714/657 area code? The area is assigned area code 562, which is served from Verizon’s central office in La Habra.

Orange County, CA is one of the biggest markets that anyone could hope to capture. Verizon should be pro-active and lay the groundwork for FIOS in Orange County NOW. When the economy picks up and consumers feel more comfortable, Verizon will be glad that they were prepared to accept new customers. It’s like buying a car. If a customer must order a car from the factory because it’s not already in stock, they are more likely to look elsewhere to find the car they want. But if the car they want is sitting in front of them. they are more likely to buy it. Verizon, are you listening?

Coverage? U-verse is definitely available in more areas in Orange County. I tried to map it once before but haven’t been able to maintain the map. This is my attempt to try again with FiOS and I’d love to offer a better map of U-verse & FiOS in OC based on reader feedback (and I got lots of it!). I need an intern! If anyone wants to help me map this, let me know!

Man! I’m so sick of Time Warner Cable and their lousy service at such a high price. We keep waiting for Verizon Fios to come to our neighborhood so we could drop the c*&p Warner cable!

Guess we’ll have to go to satellite as it looks like it won’t happen anytime soon.

Hey Verizon! The Villa Pacific Complex in Huntington Beach, located at the corner of Brookhurst and Hamilton, has more than 300-units. Our board gave the thumbs-up for FIOS at least two-years ago, but so far it’s only been installed in the single family homes all around us.

Another suggestion: How about the southwest corner of Slater and Ward in Fountain Valley? For some reason, there’s no access to cable TV/Internet at this location. I volunteer at a non-profit homework help center that meets in the coffee bar at Coastal Community Fellowship and we only have access to Verizon DSL. (www.surfcentraloc.com)

How about AT&T U-verse?

It uses fiber optic technology (what Verizon calls FiOs) and it works great; I have it.

Does anyone know who has better coverage in OC?
