Has your Verizon Wireless cell phone been getting better reception? I just got a list of 26 new cell sites the company turned in on during August and September. Several cities in Southern California should have seen improvements. All the sites offer 3G wireless coverage, of course.
As for Orange County? Just one lucky locale (October results have not yet been released):
San Juan Capistrano - Along Ortega Highway at the Orange/Riverside County line, east to Fire Street to Upper San Juan Campground to the southwest.
A Verizon coverage map is also available here. Here is the list of the latest cell sites for the Southern California region.

More on cell, mobile services:

Verizon should make an iphone app that shows the Verizon coverage you would be getting based on your GPS location if you weren’t stuck with AT&T.
I am furious. I switched from Sprint to Verizon over a year ago because all of my extended family were Verizon customers. Talking among ourselves was free. I did not know that when I moved to an area on the border of Santa Ana and Tustin that my cell reception would turn into a nightmare. I can’t carry on a conversation from my home, not in one single room or even outside without a call dropping. Sometimes I can’t even make a call. I believe the closest tower is in Irvine. I’m in cell phone hell.
Should the following–” I just got a list of 26 new cell sites the company turned in during August and September.” Instead read “I just got a list of 26 new cell sites the company turned on during August and September.” ??
Yes! thanks.
Lori,
Verizon will let you out of your contract and you can switch back to Sprint. I move to a new home in Laguna Niguel and found that Verizon does not provide coverage here. Just call Verizon Technical Support and submit a problem report. Since they cannot provide adequate coverage in your area, they will let you out of the contract.
Best of luck,
Bubba
I live in Aliso Viejo at City Lights Apartments…Verizon works MAYBE 25% of the time. This is a total ripoff at $99 a month for service that rarely works and when it does your call is dropped in less than a minute. What a ripoff they are.
Sounds like you need to look at buying a “Network Extender” which is a picocell device you can install in your home if it’s that important to you. It’s like a small flea powered cell site in your house….of course you can always switch carriers too.
