There is a temporary files holder in Wondows XP. To empty it, I go to the CONTROL PANEL, click on INTERNET OPTIONS, and click DELTE next to browsing history, temporary files, etc. I am prompted to DELETE ALL? and I agree. Presto!

Haha. Eleven paragraphs on how to delete temp files. Under Linux, all you do is
rm -rf /tmp/*

At first I read "How to get rid of Windows" and expected something like "Easy: Go to www.ubuntu.com" :)

I clicked on the CCleaner and it says it's freeware, and then I clicked on the download and it prompted me for a donation. Seems a bit too misleading for me but thank you for the article.

It should be stated that not all email clients work the same way.

The widely-used Microsoft Outlook client has several different locations for storing attachments that are overlooked by this article. All incoming emails and attachments are appended to the user profile's PST or OST file, while attachments that are opened directly from incoming emails are copied to a hidden temporary directory.

The location of the Outlook's temporary directory varies slightly by user and client version. It contains a persistent running history of all attachments that have been opened directly from incoming emails. Unfortunately, it is not affected by the file cleaning methods given in the article.
