Yes, they were added. However, I believe they are having problems with HBO2 HD. It says I need to subscribe to HBO2 HD, when I already subscribe to HBO, get HBO W HD and HBO E HD.

wonder how they ran under the mandate to convert to HD or loose their license? Or am I confusing HD with digital signal. that probably is the problem.

KDOC does not broadcast a high definition signal at this time. So that's actually not a cable system issue at this time.

Most of these channels are premium TV. I realized one day that I barely watch TV anymore. Why am I paying $125/month for cable and internet? Thats too much to pay, I remember when cable was $12.95/month in the 90's. There needs to be a price war.

I agree with "M". I would rather have HBO On Demand HD than another HBO HD Channel. No need for a channel if I can pick what I want when I want.

I have not found KDOC in High Def on Time warner, not sure if it is on Cox in HD or not. Do the cable carriers not have to carry all of the local over the air broadcast content on their cables because they "block" access to the input of the TV set with their feed or devices?

They only are carried in the lower tier, in NTSC on TW.

What does the FCC require in this regard, just one of the signals or both?

Haven't forgotten DirecTV nor Dish. Just haven't had time to compile the list of HD channels. Expect that soon. Thanks!

Hi Gadgetress:

Don't forget about DIRECTV! They have slightly more channels in HD than Verizon FIOS and have plans to have up to 200 channels in HD within a year. They also have PPV and on demand available in 1080p HD which I don't think cable offers.

Thanks for the news!

Thanks for the information on the Cox addition of HD channels. I noticed they are adding HBO2 HD. Is there any mention by Cox if they will add HBO HD On Demand like the rest of the premiums that are available on HD On Demand already?

What an astute reader and cable follower. I had no idea those two channels weren't broadcasting in HD. Wish I could read <a href="http://www.univision.com/portal.jhtml" rel="nofollow"> Spanish</a>. Still, according to <a href="http://www.univision.net/corp/en/pr/New_York_08042009-1.html" rel="nofollow">this Univision press release</a> from April 2009, Univision aired the FiFA World Cup in HD. There are other <a href="http://www.satelliteguys.us/cable-satellite-networks/159263-univision-hd.html" rel="nofollow">message boards</a> where people mention watching Univision in HD in Los Angeles.

Hmmm ... so Cox is adding KMEX (Univision) and KFTR (Telefutura) in HD at around the same time as TW, yet the two channels are not currently broadcasting in HD.

It appears Univision have a Christmas present for us in December in the form of HD broadcasting, especially since they have announced they will be presenting next year's World Cup soccer matches in HD (http://www.univision.net/corp/en/pr/New_York_08042009-1.html).

Gadgetress - any firm date from Univision as to when channels 34 and 46 will go HD?
