Vizios suck! Ya its a good price but my friends 47” blew a light bulb after 2 years, and it always stayed soooooo hot in the back of it… and he’s been calling vizio to send it in bcuz of the warranty and they have not responded, my 52” lcd SAMSUNG is gorgeous and I have noooo troubles with it!!!!! Samsung vs vizio? SAMSUNG WINS EVERY TIME !!!!

Also keep in mind Samsung manufactures other items such as computers, computer chips, printers, cell phones, and the list goes on.

Since we are getting facts straight, Vizio is a Taiwanese company (founder is Taiwanese) with Taiwanese investors (including one which is a leading Taiwanese LCD maker)

Vizio’s quality is not the same level as Samsung or Sony but it’s selling point is price not quality…For its price point, Vizio certainly make good TVs

Man, you so lucky aceofspades, I still have my 150lbs 26″ TV that crushed my toe yesterday, ouch! If you get tired of the 32″ in the guest room and you must by the new Samsung one.. I’ll be happy to take it off your hands!!!!

Thank you all for the correction, Samsung is Korean. However based on my personal experience I can say that China is still far behind in Quality Control. I have had to return Chinese made electronic products several times in the past year under warranty for manufacturing defects. However I cannot remember the last time when I had to return a Japanese made electronic product… it is extremely rare that I encounter a defect with a Japanese product. China may be improving but they are still far behind in QC.

Get your stories straight people. Samsung is not Japanese, it is a Korean Company, as is LG.

To that end, without completely taking the television apart, it is pretty hard to determine where the parts came from. Bottom line is, these are all overseas manufacture, and I remember when no one would consider a Korean car or tv. Now, they lead in quality, so they must be doing something right. And likely they are now where China will be in the future.

vizio picture dont even compare to the sony or lg scarlet. vizio is a cheap piece of junk. vizio is for people who cant buy a real box.

ocbear… you are right.. they are all sourced from LG, etc… but better product quality control (QC)?

I have worked for various medical device companies, and nothing from China is better regarding QC. Most companies in fact will not let you China source anything critical, because of the abscence of quality control, and aqualid conditions.

Some things are better, and I agree these Vizios are made mostly in China.

I always find it misleading when Vizio is referred to as an Irvine based company. Yeah ok their top management is based in Irvine but they are basically an importer for Chinese made TV sets. So you have a Japanese brand (Samsung) vs. the Chinese brand (Vizio). I think the owners of Vizio like to associate with Irvine for marketing purposes.. people feel like they are buying American but they’re really buying Chinese. The Japanese products have better quality control in my experience so maybe that is why Samsung is getting ahead.

I agree. I have the 55″ LED LCD Tv in the living room… the 55″ standard LCD in the bedroom, and the 32″ in the guest room. Next purchase is the 42″ for the garage (can’t be playing pool/ darts without a TV).

I love Vizio, although I must admit the new 1.5″ Samsung had me in a trance at Best Buy… it’s so amazingly thin!
