Local iPhone users rejoice: AT&T has added 26 more 3G cell sites in the area, including six in Orange County.
The cell sites should improve wireless coverage for 3G phone users indoors and out. In Orange County, the new sites are near these intersections:
Does this affect you? Comment below and tell AT&T if these areas are really better, or tell them what intersection to hit next.
Nationwide, AT&T has been upgrading cell sites everywhere to get ready for even faster Internet, called High-Speed Packet Access or HSPA 7.2. The faster speeds are scheduled to begin later this year and next year.
Other Southern California cities included in the batch of new 3G cell sites include the following: Los Angeles, Ontario, Glendale, Santa Fe Springs, Calabasas, Northridge, Corona, Rialto, Redlands, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Bakersfield and Oxnard.

How about all over Yorba Linda?
My Iphone doesn’t work at all in my house off Main & MacArthur in Santa Ana. AT&T says we’re in one of ther best coverage areas. You’ve got to be kidding me!! I can’t even have a 2 minute conversation without the call dropping. Anyone looking at switching to AT&T to get the IPhone should wait until it’s available with other carriers- I wish I had….
the flyover from the 5 freeway south to the 55 freeway south…i was talking to a friend and i heard a beep and suddenly i was disconnected…question to tamara…does this so-called improvement apply only to iPhones? i have at&t :<( but i don’t have an iPhone…
As I have reported before, including to ATT, the building which houses the County of Orange Auditor-Controller and Clerk Recorder at 630 N Broadway, Santa Ana, still gets weak or often non-existent signal (at least on the 3rd floor where I work).
Since Sprint has a strong signal on the same 3rd floor, in addition to good signal from Verizon, and I believe also T-Mobile works consistently too, AT&T has no excuse.
When AT&T says the building materials may the culprit as to why the AT&T signal weakens inside the building, are they saying that out of Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T, it is only AT&T’s signal that is affected by the materials the building is made from? or, are the AT&T reps just instructed to say such BS when customers complain of weak signals inside buildings? If it is the fault of the building materials, then it would not be ONLY AT&T’s signal that is affected.
Come on AT&T! This is one of the most populated areas in the Country, State, and County (Orange County, California) and the County government offices have dead spots where there is NO AT&T signal.
By the way, this is based on testing 3 AT&T cell phones in the building (including my current iPhone) and also my co-workers (AT&T mobile phone customers) on the 3rd floor that have the same problem.
Solution: Another AT&T cell tower to the north of the building will most likely fix the problem as the AT&T coverage around the building is weakest to the North.
I think you verizon users are on drugs. I have had both and my AT&T is far better than Verizon. But I guess when your the underdog, with worse coverage, why not bash the Big Dog to try and make yourself look better than you really are. I am sure it helps their sales.
In AT&T’s defense, let me quote snowhat3 for above “Then get rid of the iPhone or deal with it. All wireless carriers have their issues. Wireless technology is far from perfection.”
This is very true. Your building is most likley on the fringe of several sectors. Looks like your location might need a cell tower. If I were you, I would call them and file an official complaint. Posting complaints here won’t get you very far.
How about Lincoln and Knott in Buena Park. I have to go outside to use my phone!
AT&T is the worst. I am losing business daily due to dropped calls and they won’t let me out of my contract without charging a penalty.
I have a brand new LG Xenon phone and get no bars in my office in Brea, in my home in Tustin (17th & Newport), and calls drop regularly when I am driving in my Acura TL (hands free blue tooth built in).
Once I am done with my current contract I will never, never, never, use AT&T again. I am telling my family, friends, co-workers, and my thousands of business contacts the same thing, don’t do business with AT&T as they only care about taking your money.
Yorba Linda is a dead, dead area. I swear ATT doesn’t kow this city exists.
Same to me. No signal for nphone 3GS from AT&T in Brea.(corner of central and berry)
Rep. keep saying building material is blocking the signal. My neighbor does not have any proble with sprint, Verizon. Only ATT customers are suffering from weal signal. What a JOKE!!!!! Building materials!!!!!!
all ATT service has improved in the area of the new Scout Trail/Nohl Ranch cell. In the recent past, signal required amplification asst. to be reliable. Thank you for your progress.
How about City of Tustin, CA
We don’t have any 3g coverage in Sanford NC any idea when this can happen.
