AT&T upgrades mobile coverage in San Clemente, Laguna Hills

Two more cell sites just got powered on in Orange County that should help ease the pain of dropped calls and poor coverage for local AT&T customers.

AT&T said Thursday that the two new sites are part of four 3G sites in the Los Angeles area to “improve mobile coverage for area residents and businesses.”

In Orange County, the new sites are near these intersections:

  • San Clemente: Near the intersection of Portico Del Norte and Camino De Los Mares
  • Laguna Hills: Near the intersection of Moulton Parkway and Ridge Route Drive

The other new sites are located in Fontana and Temecula.

The upgrades are part of the company’s plan to add 200 new cell sites in California this year.

You’re killin’ me AT & T!!! Upgrade @ Oso and Felipe please!! I can’t even use the cell phone at home!

I sincerely wish they could improve the coverage around the UC Irvine campus.

East campus sucks near the rec center. Other spots seem to be OK but a lot of missed calls due to lack of capacity. I agree they need improvement at UCI but the campus has to approve the sites. Most schools could care less about cell sites so it will be interesting to see if it gets better or worse, it’s also a safety issue too. How about it AT&T….any planned improvements in and around UC Irvine???

i have tried them all. with my mobile service i know exactly where each of these guys won’t have a signal. i found version the best until i started noticing missed calls at home in costa mesa. long story short i ate the 115 early termination fee and went with straight talk from wal mart.. the absolute best coverage of them all in the o.c. ya right you say.. well i’ve got 4 bars on the 73 crossing from n.b. to aliso viejo.. i know you don’t. at home i now have 3-4 bars. they are no contract.. i have unlimited minutes for 45 a month and that is the total fee. verison was 98 for 1k minutes and since my lg phone from them was dying it was going to run 200 for that.. 39 for a better lg from wal mart.. the reign of top dollar, locked in a contract for absolutely horrible service is over.. verison/att/t mobile et al can bite me. i lost thousands in business from dropped/didnt get the call from those guys. i truly hope they all go out of business.

Dp they have the computer hook up that everyone seems to be trying to sell now?

    • safedriver says:

Well gee Sam, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but for one, you seem to be talking a lot of trash about Verizon (maybe you can figure out how to spell it properly from now on), I just want you to know that your extra spiffy super dooper “Straight Talk” uses the Verizon network. Yep that’s right….better do your homework there boss. Sorry to sound snide but it’s the uninformed s-talkers that get under my skin when I’m tired, this from an AT&T user.

i wonder if my phone will work now? at&t has managed to render the iphone useless.

  • REallynow OC says:

OK you tech guys out there whos towers and backbone system are they using?

    • safedriver says:

As I stated above, they are a MVNO using the Verizon Network….the one that Sam seems to think sucks….go figure.

  • OhBoy says:

ATT will spend a few million in studies to save a million (for a lesser system) and then spend more millions trying to convince customers that the lesser-system is really more.

There are about 50 homes in Capo Beach that do not have AT&T coverage. I signed up, took the phone home, and it didn’t have reception. So I took it back, they said they would look into it. Sixty days later I said, “forget it”, but now I was past the 30 day return period. I left the phone at the AT$T store and I refused to pay them ANYTHING, and they fckd up my credit.

    • safedriver says:

No one to blame but yourself. You have 30 days…after that you are locked in. They could care less about the fact that you left the phone too. Either went into the trash or the donation box. You signed the dotted line….nuff said.

No coverage from AT&T? Switch to Verizon.

costa mesa and diamond bar…well, not matter what wireless company you subscribe to, there will always be dropped calls and no service in some areas…can they not just share towers?

    • safedriver says:

they do all the time Jimmy. However the newer style stealth sites usually make it harder to add antennas for 2 or more co-located carriers at the same site. Mostly relates to radio characteristics where there is not enough separation among the antennas and frequencies used.
