No, the NFL channel isn’t coming to Time Warner Cable. Now that that’s out of the way, there is a new HD sports channel just around the corner for Orange County and Los Angeles customers.
Called iN Demand Sports HD, the new sports channel will feature baseball and hockey games and be part of the existing MLB Extra Inning pacakge and NHL Center Ice package. iN Demand calls the channel GAME2 and for Time Warner customers, it will be available on channel 731 beginning April 19.
iN Demand is a network owned by several cable companies, including Time Warner and Cox.
“iN Demand calls it GAME2. This channel will be added to our lineup in order to further expand the HD game offerings as part of NHL CENTER ICE and MLB EXTRA INNINGS. This will bring a significant increase to the number of HD games available in these packages,” said Time Warner spokesman Darryl Ryan.
The addition of the HD sports channel brings the number to 4 HD channels that Time Warner offers from iN Demand. The others include HD PPV on channel 431, and seasonal sports packages on 732 and 733.
Time Warner also announced that two foreign-language channels, plus two radio channels will be added to the lineup beginning April 19. Those are:
Also on April 19, basic digital cable customers will get Speed and Speed HD added to their package. Both will retain their existing channel numbers, at 266 and 468.
I’m sure these aren’t the most in-demand channels among customers. Maybe we need to remind the company? Below, I’ve pasted in the poll from September when I last asked the question: What channel do you want next? (Then again, if you look at the results, some fans — or fan? — of EBRU TV really went crazy!)
Here’s the poll (be polite please):
By the way, Time Warner has added some of these channels in Orange County since the poll began last fall. Those include: MSNBC HD (channel 446), NASA TV (ch. 234, this channel has been around for awhile), CNBC World (ch. 222), Fox News HD (ch. 465) and Fox Soccer Channel (ch. 269).

Good news for sports lovers. Is the channels available now?
April 19
Why is The Register doing advertising for Time Warner, disguised as a news story?
I bet their shareholders would prefer that TIme Warner pay for this 1/2 page ad, that also got homepage coverage in Yahoo Local.
Still waiting on something similar to Direct TV’s NFL Sunday ticket.
How bout lowering them prices instead?
How much will totally worthless crap raise my bill this month?
$5 $10?
I dont even have an HD TV!
NFL Network!!
In about October last year, you reported TWC was adding WGN America HD on 12/10, but all these months later, they still haven’t done it, what’s up w/ that?
As I suspected, WGN America HD is available — if you live in Tustin or Costa Mesa. These two cities were formerly with Comcast and for some reason they have more room in the cable lines for HD channels. Customers in those cities should be getting that new HD channel, along with 20 others. (If you’re not, let me know.)
For the rest of the county, Time Warner must first find room in its cable lines so there’s no ETA yet on when everyone else will get the channels. As soon as I find this out, I’ll write about it.
Here’s the original post: Time Warner adding 21 HD channels in December.
Thanks so much!
your poll should ask how many channels I want to dump because they have no entertainment value for myself or my English speaking family.
One of these days I’m going to do an analysis of all the channels Time Warner offers. Wasn’t the promise of cable TV to get a bunch of obscure channels that target a niche audience? Or was it to be able to watch TV without commercials? It’s all a blur!
In No. OC, Time Warner is prevalent. I had Time Warner for 2 days, and changed to ATT U-Verse (can’t get Directv because of our HOA)… Time Warner seriously blows, it’s the worst service I have ever had in CA. HD offerings are slim, and quality is CRAP!!! (that’s being “nice” haha).
I’ll keep my Direct TV. I would stop watching TV before I went back to cable.
I am a time warner cable customer thinking of changing to satelite. I do want the NFL network but that to me is not the deal breaker. I want to watch soccer but if I want the soccer channels I have to get two tiers. One sports tier for fox sports world and the spanish tier for GOL tv. My parents have verizon FIOS and they get channels like the military channel, Fuse, G4, Animal Planet HD and National Geographic HD part of their basic package and TWC makes me pay extra for those. If FIOS was available in my area I would have switched a long time ago. The only thing stopping me from switching to satelite is I think the cable internet connection is faster, but I think TWC’s basic package is just about the worst
I had time warner and left for DISH. It is far superior but now DISH is raising their prices so I am switching again to U-Verse! Friends have ATT and love the internet speed and picture quality of Uverse.
For me the NFL Network is my biggest frustration with Time Warner. Their customer service has been pretty good but I”m to the point that they either get NFL Network or I’ll just move on to another service.
The more hd the better as far as i am concerned
Just bought a house. Way too many trees for Sat. Uverse hasn’t made it onto this side of the state route yet. .2 miles away it’s available. Stuck with TW. I need to sweet talk the neighbors into cutting down a tree or two. Even after all the bad STBs and the not so great install. If they would just get the NFL Network everything would be ok.
I live in los angeles when the hell is time warner going to get the fox soccer channel in HD THE WORLD CUP AND MLS is right around the corner might have to switch to satelite
