iGirl aka Sonya Smith has been working for the Orange County Register since graduating from Cal State Long Beach in 2005.
Smith started out covering Irvine news and the Great Park but switched to cover technology while Tamara “the Gadgetress” Chuang went on maternity leave in November 2007. She began covering Apple tech news for the Gadgetress when she slept overnight at the Irvine Spectrum store for the iPhone.
Smith is also Region 11 Director for the southwest area of the national organization, the Society of Professional Journalists. In her spare time, Smith performs and teaches tap dance.
As of April 2008, iGirl is now blogging all about Disney for the OC Register. Gadgetress hopes to lure her back but for now, check out her new blog.
