The Consumer Electronics Show 2009 has come and gone. I’m exhausted but always glad I get the opportunity to attend the Las Vegas technology convention.
It was indeed smaller (down nearly 40,000 attendees from the all-time high of 150,000 in 2006). Organizers say they planned it that way, although they admit the economy probably had something to do with the slump too. Nevertheless, stand-out gadgets were the new Palm pre phone, the ultra-thin TV from Panasonic, and, umm, well, lots of other trends that aren’t necessarily new.
Everyone this year was pitching faster TVs (240 Hertz and up), Internet TVs, eco-friendly policies, wireless electricity and 3D technology. The show is much too big for one person to conquer in a couple of days, so I offer up to you a few highlights of what I saw.
