Today: Erik Estrada handing out 1,000 Bluetooth headsets for free

June 19th, 2008, 10:31 am by

If you happen to be driving near the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles today, stop by to get one of the 1,000 free Bluetooth headsets, while supplies last.

LG Mobile Phones, the electronics company that also makes TVs and stereos, is giving away headsets to promote the new hands-free driving law that goes into effect in California on July 1.  As part of the promo, the company hired Erik Estrada, famous for his role as California Highway Patrol officer Ponch in the 1970s TV series “CHiPs,” to hand out the goodies.

Event details:

When: Today, Thursday, June 19, 2008

Time: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Where: Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles
6060 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90036

MoGo makes sweet, small stuff…

Mentioned in Your Gadget’s Gadget in today’s paper is something also worth mentioning here on my blog:

MoGo Dapter
Add Bluetooth to non-Bluetooth laptops with this itty-bitty adapter from Newton Peripherals in Massachusetts. The MoGo Dapter looks like the nail on your big toe, and it’s smaller than a nickel. But it does the job, plus it offers Bluetooth 2.0, the latest version, and works with Macs and PCs.
ces_mogodaptersml.jpgThe company’s motto: “Plug it and forget it.” Available in the second quarter for $50. Details at HERE. And here’s my blurry photo of the Dapter next to a dime… Really, it’s that small!

MoGo Mouse X54
mogomouse.jpgAlso from Newton Peripherals is the MoGo Mouse, a phenomenally flat Bluetooth mouse that recharges when you stick it in a laptop’s PC card slot. But that came out last year. At CES, the company introduced MoGo Mouse X54 for computers with ExpressCard/54 slots. Use the flat center to scroll. No software drivers needed. Available in the second quarter for $80. Details at mogomouse.com/x54.html.
